Discovering the inherent forces of a given space and using them to create a purposeful, dynamic and strong compositional piece.

To begin I completed form studies including: line, line and shape, angled line and shape, golden ratio composition of line and shape, lastly line, shape and numbers. In addition I did multiple color studies of: value scale, complementary scale, color to gray value scale, split complementary color relations, finally color studies of shape and line.

Next I integrated my chosen animal form into Fibonacci’s spiral. My choice of animal is meant to honor my best friend back home-- a macaw. The spiral leads directly to the macaw’s beak drawing the eye across the piece with the bird as the focal point. It fits naturally within the spiral because of its golden ratio construction. I then included a color pallet to mimic that of the bird itself.
